Fauxchét® Shoe Laces

Skill level: Beginner

Finished Size: One size (55″ long)

Yarn: Two Mini-Skeins each of .35 oz. Sport Weight Yarn (with a touch of metallic) (A) Pink; (B) Blue. We chose Lion Brand Bonbons yarn.

Yarn Tool: easyloop® fauxchét® yarn tool

Extras: Clear 3/4″ wide tape

Easyloop® Yarn Tool Tension: With easyloop® yarn tool, PULL NEEDLE BACK 1 inch and PUSH NEEDLE INTO LOOP 1 inch.

Gauge: 15 sts =  4 inches (make consistent sized stitches).

Special Techniques: Using 2 strands of yarn held together as one.

Stitches Used: FAUXCHÉT® CHAIN STITCH (using 2 strands of yarn held together).

Shoe Laces (A, Pink, Make 2)

To Begin: With the easyloop® tool threaded with a double strand of yarn A create a slip knot (1 inch in size) 6 inches from yarn end.

Chain Stitch: Using two strands of yarn color A, chain 175 plus 1 stitch (or make a chain 55 inches in length).

Finishing: Cut yarn and pull end to tighten. Attach a piece of 3/4″ wide clear tape to the ends of the laces, rolled around the ends of the yarn to create a tip for inserting into the lace holes. Trim the excess yarn ends at the end of the tape. ♦

Shoe Laces (B, Blue, Make 2)

To Begin: With the easyloop® tool threaded with a double strand of yarn B create a slip knot (1 inch in size) 6 inches from yarn end.

Chain Stitch: Using two strands of yarn color B, chain 175 plus 1 stitch. (or make a chain 55 inches in length).

Finishing: Cut yarn and pull end to tighten. Attach a piece of 3/4″ wide clear tape to the ends of the laces, rolled around the ends of the yarn to create a tip for inserting into the lace holes. Trim the excess yarn ends at the end of the tape. ♦
