Yarn Tool: easyloop® fauxchet® yarn tool

Tool tension: Pull easyloop® tool needle back 1 inch and push needle into loop 1 inch.
Gauge: Gauge isn’t critical for this project.
Stitches used: SINGLE FAUXCHET® EDGE STITCH.
Visit www.fauxchet.com for how-to videos of the stitches used in this pattern.
Special techniques: STITCHING AROUND THE EDGE OF ELASTIC HEAD BAND; HOLDING 2 STRANDS OF YARN TOGETHER (AS ONE).
Head Band
To begin: Begin by threading the easyloop® yarn tool with a double strand of YARN in color of your choice. After threading tool, pull yarn so there is 6 inches of yarn between needle tip and yarn end.
Row 1: With yarn tool threaded with 2 strands of yarn, insert tool into the center of a head band (as in the SINGLE FAUXCHET® EDGING technique taught in The Art of Fauxchet® E-Book) and create 1 SINGLE FAUXCHET® STITCH, pulling on the yarn end to tighten (securing the stitch to the band).
Create 49 more SINGLE FAUXCHET® EDGE STITCHES around the edge of the elastic band, for a total of 50 SINGLE FAUXCHET® EDGE STITCHES. The color of the head band should be visible in between the stitches. At the end fasten off with 1 extra chain stitch into the last stitch you made. Cut yarn, leaving a 3 inch tail of yarn at ends. Unthread the easyloop® tool by pulling cut yarn end backward out of the tool needles.
Finishing: Pull ends to tighten and tie ends in a double knot. Weave ends in with the easyloop® yarn tool and the weaving technique. ♦
Note: Technically you will be working from the wrong side of the finished head band while stitching, though both sides of the SINGLE FAUXCHET® EDGE STITCH are beautiful and the head band can be worn with either side showing.
The fauxchét® head bands are made with the easyloop® fauxchét® yarn tool. The basic stitches and techniques can be learned in The Art of Fauxchét® E-Book. A link to download the E-BOOK, our how-to videos, and a written instruction booklet to get you started (with easy scarf patterns) are included with the easyloop® fauxchét® yarn tool.
