Stitches Used:  Chain Stitch; Slip StitchFauxchét® Shell Stitch (The Fauxchét® Shell Stitch is a variation of the Single Fauxchét® Stitch); Slip Stitch Edging.

Special Technique: Create a triangular shape by not adding 1 extra turning stitch at the end of each row before turning work. The triangle shape forms.

Purple Passion Shawl

To Begin: With the easyloop® tool threaded with Yarn A (Passion), create a slip knot (1 inch in size) 6 inches from yarn end. Adjust so there is 1 inch between needle tip and slip knot.

Foundation Chain: Chain 100 stitches plus 1 turning stitch. Turn work.

Row 1: Slip Stitch into every stitch of foundation chain across row, making 1 turning stitch at the end of row. Turn work, so yarn tool is on the left and work is on the right.

Rows 2-46: Fauxchet® Shell Stitch across each row, turning work at the end of each row. NOTE: TURN WORK at the end of each row but DO NOT ADD 1 EXTRA TURNING STITCH at the END OF ROWS. By not adding an extra turning stitch at the end of rows the triangle is shaped.

At the end of row 46, end work by fastening off with 1 extra chain stitch into the last stitch. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. Pull end to tighten the last stitch. (Unthread the easyloop® tool by pulling cut yarn end backward out of the tool needles.)

Finishing: Weave loose yarn ends in using the easyloop® yarn tool and the “weaving ends in” technique.

Slip Stitch Edging: Rethread the easyloop® tool with Yarn A (Purple), and working from the WRONG SIDE of the fabric BEGIN EDGING at the SAME CORNER YOU STARTED THE PROJECT by securing the threaded yarn tool to the corner of the triangle with a SLIP STITCH. Tie the two yarn ends together to secure.

SLIP STITCH into every stitch along the edges of all 3 sides of the triangle, creating an extra stitch at the corners to prevent puckering.

When SLIP STITCH EDGING is completed around all 3 sides, end work by fastening off with 1 extra chain stitch into the last stitch. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. Unthread the easyloop® tool by pulling cut yarn end backward out of the tool needles. Pull yarn end to tighten the last stitch.

Finishing: Weave loose yarn ends in using the easyloop® yarn tool and the “weaving ends in” technique. ♦
