Skill Level: Beginner

Finished Size: One size, 5“ width x 4” length (laid flat) 10” in circumference x 4” in length.

Yarn: Yarn A, 1 oz. Worsted Weight Yarn, Blue (Makes Two Anklets). We chose Bernat Sheepish one 3 oz. skein #00014 Turquoise (you’ll have leftover yarn or enough for three pairs of anklets).

Yarn Tool: easyloop® fauxchét® yarn tool

Easyloop® Yarn Tool Tension: With the easyloop® yarn tool threaded with Yarn A pull needle back 1 1/2 inches and push needle into stitch 1 1/2 inches (recommended worsted weight tension for Fauxchét® Shell Stitch) or as needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 6 shell stitches and 4 1/2 rows = 4 inches.
Note: Every 2 chain stitches = 1 shell stitch.

Stitches Used: Chain Stitch; Slip Stitch; Fauxchét® Shell Stitch (the Fauxchét® Shell Stitch is a variation of the Single Fauxchét® Stitch).

Note: The Fauxchét® Shell Stitch looks the same on both sides, there is no right or wrong side.

Special Technique: SEAMING with the easyloop® tool using the SLIP STITCH seaming technique.

To Begin: With the easyloop® tool threaded with Yarn A (Turquoise) create a slip knot (1 inch in size) 6 inches from yarn end. Adjust so there is 1 inch between needle tip and slip knot.

Foundation Chain: Chain 12 stitches, PLUS 1 TURNING STITCH. TURN WORK (being careful not to twist the chain). With work turned, the work is to the right and the tool is to the left (or vice versa for left-handers).

Row 1: Slip Stitch across row into every stitch of chain. Plus 1 Turning Stitch. Turn Work.

Rows 2-9: Fauxchét® Shell Stitch across rows. Always make a turning stitch at the end of each row before turning work.

Row 10: Slip Stitch into every stitch across row. Note: At the end of row 10, end work by fas-tening off with 1 extra chain stitch into the last stitch. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. Unthread the easyloop® tool by pulling cut yarn end backward out of the tool needles. Pull yarn end to tighten the last stitch.

Seaming: Rethread the easyloop® tool with Yarn A, pulling yarn end so there is 6 inches between yarn end and needle tip. With fin-ished anklet piece folded in half horizontally, align the top and bottom edges (shorter sides) being careful to align each stitch across from eachother (along the top and bottom of the anklet piece).

Insert the threaded easyloop® tool into the first set of aligned stitches on the far left edge of the folded anklet piece and secure to the edge with a slip stitch. Note: You will be sewing the seam with the Fauxchét® Slip Stitch by inserting the needle tip through the FRONT and BACK LOOPS of each stitch (on both layers of the folded anklet piece) for a total of 4 LAYERS of LOOPS per stitch along the seam. Visit www.fauxchet.com for a How-to Video of the Seaming Technique.

Continue stitching into every stitch (4 LAYERS) along the folded seam edge to the end of row.

End work by fastening off with 1 extra chain stitch into the last stitch. Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail. Unthread the easyloop® tool by pulling cut yarn end backward out of the tool needles. Pull yarn end to tighten the last stitch.

Finishing: Weave loose yarn ends in using the easyloop® yarn tool and the “weaving ends in” technique. ♦

Styling: Worn with sandals or with bare feet these ocean anklets are comfy and stylish.
